ABOUT MRS. WHITELEY
My name is Claudia Whiteley. I live near Stephenville on part of the family ranch. I attended Granbury and Tolar schools then graduated from Stephenville High School. I graduated from Tarleton State University in 1991 and worked in the private sector for several years. Finally, I followed my heart as well as a long family tradition and went into teaching.
I share my home with my husband, Larry, and our four dogs. When not teaching, I enjoy a variety of outdoor activities that includes riding my four-wheeler around on the ranch. I also enjoy reading, cooking, and playing raquetball.
I believe that a positive classroom environment is essential for students to learn. I also believe that education is about self-discovery and how to face challenges. As a teacher, I encourage students to take chances on a variety of projects. It is an important part of life that young people measure success not only by achievement, but that they actively participate in reaching the desired goal. Sometimes it takes more than one try to overcome a challenging obstacle. In these situations, the lesson learned is not in the goal itself, but in how it was fulfilled.
My hope is that students will not be afraid to take on the challenges in life. I am thankful that I had family as well as many wonderful teachers and strong community support for my own life. As a teacher, I hope to pass on a tradition of-- it takes every person to bring up a child in this world.
I welcome communication with parents. My conference period is Monday-Friday afternoon, 1:07-1:52. If you re not able to meet with me, I usually also check my email or accept telephone calls at this time. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org or phone Tolar Junior High School at 254-835-5207.
